Y3 Striking and Fielding Festival - Thursday 24th June 2010
We had a great turn out to the final festival of the Harris cluster for this year. Clifton Primary, St. Matthews Bloxham, Binley Woods, St. Maries Junior and Dunchurch Junior all attended with their Y3 pupils. In total 150 Y3 pupils participated in both cricket and rounders inter-school competition. Pupils seemed to enjoy themselves a great deal and fortunately we were blessed with lovely dry weather. A big thankyou to the Harris Y7 leaders who dealt well with the large number of pupils that attended. The winning team came from Clifton Primary School so congratulations to them.

Congratulations to St. Maries Junior Y5&6 and Clifton Y3&4 for qualifying through to the finals for the Mini Red Tennis competition. St. Maries Junior successfully won the final and they now go through to the County finals which will be held this Friday (9th July) at Warwick University. Good luck St. Maries Junior.
Year 4 Multisports Festival - Thursday 6th May 2010
St. Maries Junior and Binley Woods both attended the multisports festival and participated in volleyball, cricket and rounders. Pupils seemed to enjoy all three activities and although volleyball was more challenging, they happily participated and gave it a go. It was a great afternoon and another opportunity for the Year 7 Harris leaders to help run the festival. Fortunately the weather just held off so we didn't get to wet! In the end it was a team from St. Maries that won first place and a team from Binley Woods that came second so well done to all involved.

Mini Red Tennis - Year 5 & 6 - Wedneday 28th April 2010
Three teams entered into this event held at Harris School. Binley Woods, St. Maries and Clifton Primary School. Pupils did extremely well, particularly as some had not played much tennis previously. It ended up a very close contest and the final result needed to be based on the points difference. In the end the team from St. Maries successfully beat their opponents and will now go on to represent their school in the Partnership final on the 15th June at Harris School.
Mini Red Tennis - Year 3 & 4 - Tuesday 22nd April 2010
Unfortunately this event had to be cancelled as only one Primary from our cluster was able to attend. Therefore Clifton Primary School have successfully qualified through to the Partnership final on the 9th June at Harris School.
Year 5 Football Festival - Thursday 22nd April 2010
Students from four of our cluster schools attended the Year 5 festival. St. Matthews, Binley Woods, Dunchurch Junior and St. Maries all enjoyed a fun filled afternoon of football. Through the guidance of our Harris leaders, pupils were able to take part in some skill based relay races before participating in a tournament. For the first time in the history of Primary festivals, some pupils were invited to learn about healthy eating by joining the food technology department for the afternoon where they learned how to make healthy bread. Whether pupils were participating in the cooking or the football, they all had a great time. Teams from Binley Woods, St. Matthews and Dunchurch Junior all went away winners.
Year 2 Multiskills Festivals - Thursday 11th March 2010
Pupils from two of our cluster schools, Binley Woods and Dunchurch Infants were able to attend the Year 2 festival. They competed against each other in a mixture of different events, each event was designed to develop different fundamental skills. They participated in ball skills, aiming exercises, and events to develop their speed and quickness. Our Year 7 leaders here at Harris helped to run the event and they did a fantastic job. All pupils seemed to enjoy themselves and some individuals received prizes for putting in extra effort or for supporting others.

Here a pupil from Dunchurch Infants enjoying the ladders.

Infant Agility Festival - Thursday 25th February 2010
This Thursday we held the infant agility festival at Harris School. We invited Year 1 and 2 pupils to participate in different events to challenge their agility, accuracy and speed. The festival was led by Zoe Parsons, Specialising in Sport. She was assisted by a mix of Year 7 and 8 leaders from Harris School. It was the Year 7's first festival since their leadership training and they did a fantastic job. All the Primary pupil's thoroughly enjoyed themselves and many achieved very well. Pupil's from Binley Woods, Dunchurch Infants, Clifton Primary School and Brooke School attended.

Agility Challenge Festival Y5&6 - Thursday 28th January 2010
This festival was aimed at Year 5 and 6 pupils to help develop their core skills such as balance, speed and accuracy and it is led by the same company that brought us Sportshall Athletics. Only two of our Primary Schools were able to attend the event but it was still a very enjoyable occasion and pupils who participated had a great experience. The event has also helped to prepare them for the sportshall athletics coming soon. Harris leaders from Y8 helped to run the event and I'd like to say a big thankyou to them and also thankyou to Maddy from 'Specialising in Sport' for planning and running the event.

Year 5 Football Festival - Thursday 14th January 2010 - Postponed
Unfortunately due to the current weather we have chosen to postpone the Year 5 Football Festival. Hopefully we can find a date in the near future so that Y5 don't miss out.
Year 1 Multiskills Festival - Thursday 12th November 2009
This year three of our Primary Schools attended the Year 1 Multiskills Festival. It was a big success with all pupils thoroughly enjoying themselves. Year 10 leaders from Harris helped to lead the festival and they played a big part in making it the sucess it was. I'd like to say a huge thankyou to those leaders. Y1 pupils participated in several different stations which were aimed at developing speed, agility, balance, teamwork and accuracy. Each team leader also nominated a 'star' pupil award for the pupil who put the most effort in or simply smiled the whole way through. They received a Sport Partnership water bottle as a prize. Well done to those pupils.

Year 6 Tag Rugby Festival - Thursday 1st October 2009
Four of our Primary Schools were able to attend the Year 6 Tag Rugby Festival at the beginning of this month and it was a great success. The year 6 pupils were split up and led through a series of different skills that would enable them to play in the tournament. All the pupils were actively involved and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Harris leaders were superb in their leadership and without their support and initiative the event would not have been as successful as it was. The winning team was Binley Woods 1 so congratulations to them and a big thank you to everyone that took part.
